Writing on Wurundjeri country, I'm an award-winning journalist and former co-editor of Overland, Australia's longest-running journal of progressive culture.

My books have received acclaim and my articles appear in The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, The Monthly, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, ABC Online, The Conversation, Australian Book Review, The Australian, The Courier-Mail, Art Monthly, Crikey.com, New Matilda and Good Weekend.

My essays appear in Griffith Review, Meanjin, Eyeline, Eureka Street, the Law Institute Journal and Overland. I've edited art publications and writers' magazines.

A small monthly payment from writing income goes to First Nations Futures, Pay The Rent, Asylum Seekers Resource Centre and Farmers for Climate Action.

Sustainable life — cultural and environmental — is my primary focus. I have a PhD in cultural studies and certificates in permaculture design. I’ve lived in Australia’s remote far north and currently live in rural Victoria.
